Create your admin account

Use this guide after Tarnished is installed and responding in your browser.

What this page does​

In a fresh Tarnished instance, the first registered user becomes the administrator automatically.

Before you begin​

You need:

  • a working Tarnished install
  • the Tarnished URL in your browser

If Tarnished is not installed yet, start with Install Tarnished.

Create the first account​

  1. Open Tarnished in your browser.
  2. Choose the registration flow.
  3. Create the first user account with your email and password.
  4. Sign in if Tarnished does not sign you in automatically.

What the first admin account controls​

The first administrator account is the account you use to:

  • manage the instance through the web app
  • create API keys for machine clients
  • configure AI settings
  • access other admin-only settings

If someone already created the first account​

If the instance is not fresh anymore, the first-account bootstrap is already complete. In that case, use an existing admin account or ask the current admin for access.
